The email was from a man had just been through a divorce. He explained that he lost 94 percent of everything when he and his wife divorced.

“She got the properties, and I got the mortgages.”

Per the terms of their divorce decree, his monthly spousal support check was to include the cost of the mortgages.

When I read that, I just knew what he was going to say next, and that’s when I cringed

His ex-wife was cashing the checks, but she wasn’t paying the mortgages on time… the very same mortgages in his name.

This Happens All the Time

This situation is common, so if you ever go through a divorce, make sure you protect your credit.

In short, here’s my advice:

1. Refinance the mortgage in your ex’s name only. In the case o

You should understand what cash back credit cards can provide you. A cash back credit card provides annual bonuses or gives cash to the client. The amount of money depend on how many purchases were made with it. This type of credit card is for those who rarely use cash in their transactions. Those inclined to cheat the system in order to benefit their own personal financial situation are getting more creative in their endeavors. Last week a woman from Los Angeles CA had pled guilty to defrauding the Internal Revenue Service but ultimately got caught in her deception and will face stiff charges filed against her.

The woman, Norma Coronel, had admitted to filing deductions on at least twenty fake children. She went so far as to get Social Security numbers for the kids. Coronel claimed all of the children had the same birthday in order to gain a refund totaling $300,000. She had the refunds sent to her home or to the various bank accounts she maintained.

Court Permits Creditor Foreclosure Of Debtor Interest In Single Member Delaware LLC

Posted by Gregory Young at Sep 23, 2011 | No Comments »

A debtor owned a series of single member Delaware LLCs. Delaware law provides that the charging lien is the exclusive creditor remedy to attack all LLCs regardless of the number of members. Most other states including Florida  provide that a creditor can foreclose the debtor’s interest in a single member LLC.

I recently learned of a case where a judgment was entered in Utah against a debtor who owned single member LLC interests in  Delaware LLCs doing business in Utah. The creditor sought to seize and foreclose the debtor’s LLC interest. The debtor argued that Delaware law applies to the creditor’s charging remedies because the LLCs were Delaware entities.

The Utah court issued an order that Utah law applies to all judgment execution proceeding including the creditor’s foreclosure of the debtor’s interests in limited liability companies whether such LLCs are domestic or foreign.

The Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls expected to raise $50,000. Instead, it raised $350,000.

Let me back up …

I recently met Brandon Steiner—the founder and CEO of Steiner Sports Memorabilia and the chairman of the Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls.

Well, when I received a mass email from Brandon (attempting to raise funds for the Girl’s home), I called him right away.

“Brandon, these emails aren’t effective. In fact, would you let me write your emails?”

Brandon was skeptical, but he agreed to give it a shot.

So why is a credit guy tooting his own horn about his philanthropic endeavors?

Well, I know a lot of you work for nonprofit organizations—or perhaps you sit on the board or volunteer. And I make it
