Did my post title ring any bells in your mind? You must have read about & encountered Archie comic fame bespectacled Dilton (who is always into books & experimenting new stuff) type characters in your real life. Have you ever given a thought how is it like to be a GEEK .

The life of a geek is never easy. As a geek, we have to put up with many issues that are not faced normal individuals. Sometimes I just sit and stare out into space and think about the reasons why I hate to be a geek. Some of the thoughts that come to me are really crazy, but as a geek, we can put it into perspective.

1. Immense pressure:

As a geek, we always expected to do well in classes. There is no room for failure. As a result, our recreation is limited to playing learning games and stuck on the computer trying to learn something.

2. Always being ridiculed:

At school, we are always being picked on our status as a geek. The more popular student always thinks it’s their duty to humiliate us. As a result as a geek, we are always on the defensive for the next dose of abuse.

3. Virtual best friends:

Having a virtual best friend can be lonely sometimes. Although we get to freely express ourselves in this virtual medium, the lack of physical contact is sometimes depressing.

4. Being forced to do other people’s homework:

The only time you are needed as a geek is to do other people’s homework. This is so hypocritical and always leaves us feeling used, especially if it is a girl you like. You feel so helpless because of your yearning to be accepted.

5. Cannot get the nice girls:

None of the popular girls wants to be associated with a geek. They do not even want to be seen in close proximity to us. This makes our life lonely and just stuck with our mates. We are not invited to campus parties and other recreation activities.

6. Over protective parents:

Having over protective parents does nothing to help alleviate your geek status. Having your parents always turning up at college to speak to your professors can be sometimes humiliating. It leaves you living with the title ‘mommy’s baby’.

7. Cannot make in any sports team:

Whenever we try to make any of the sports team, the coach’s reaction is as if he is watching the best of comedy hour. Even if we have some form of athletic talent, we are limited to duties of water-boy or locker room towel supplier. Our break through is long and hard and usually occurs by a stroke of luck.

8. Boring student clubs:

As a geek, we cannot get into the popular social campus clubs. As a result we are stuck with boring geek clubs that as just simply monotonous and lacking in ideas. Being always stuck with individuals should make you comfortable, however, unfortunately for some of us geeks who want to break through, it is a total nightmare.

9. Feeling empty:

Because of the longing to be accepted, we geeks always have this feeling of being incomplete. Sometime this leads to us subjecting ourselves to belittlement just to be a part the mainstream.

10. Bad habits:

One of the major contributors to our geek status is our predictable habits. Individuals can just sit and wait for us to go through our routine and then turn it into a joke.
