I now know how important it is to get my annual credit report. Looking around, I have come across many people who have been defrauded in one way or another. Had I not taken matters into my own hands, I may have ended up in the same situation.

Many times even human error is the problem. So, when you review your report, you can act on it quickly and correct it. The same is true if fraud is suspected whereby someone is using your name to apply for loans or credit cards.
If things aren’t caught early enough, whether it is fraud or just human error, these problems could end up causing huge repercussions if you are looking to apply for new credit in terms of getting refused.
So, it is highly recommended that you be active and responsible, ensuring that everything is as it should be. Another important thing that you should always take care of is your bank account or accounts. Review them carefully every month when you receive the statement, or online, depending on your situation.
