Does It Hurt My Credit if Several Reports Run While Car Shopping?

May 11, 2012 | No Comments »

Auto lenders will often view your credit report prior to offering you an auto loan. The information in your report determines your FICO credit score, which runs from 300 to 850. This information will impact the terms of your auto loan, including the...

The Best in San Diego Credit Repair Services

Posted by Gregory Young at Apr 05, 2012 | No Comments »

Once upon a time, one woman found she needed her credit repaired and, rather than leaving it to someone else to fix, took matters into her own hands and improved her credit score.  Realizing there was a market for this kind of thing, My Credit Group was born.

Today, more than 10 years later, My Credit Group has become a leader among San Diego credit repair services.  Based in sunny southern California, we’ve managed to help tens of thousands of consumers from all over the US – including military service members stationed overseas – to improve their credit scores, settle outstanding debts, and open new lines of positive credit.

Our comprehensive 4 step program covers aspects of your credit report other credit repair companies don’t even seem to know exists (or else they’d step up to the plate).  Whereas other services are content to simply dispute all negatives charges against their clients, MCG recognizes that each account in your credit report is completely unique, and thus requires wildly varied ways of dealing with them.

Rather than claiming that every negative account simply isn’t yours (when you know it likely is), we encourage validation and verification on all details in said account, and dispute anything that is reporting inaccurately.  If a negative account can’t be disputed off your report, we find other ways to work it out.  Pay for deletion negotiations, debt settlement options, letters of goodwill, we cover them all.  We’ve been in this business long enough to have picked up more than a few tricks for handling negative credit accounts, and we use them for consumers’ benefits.

That’s not to say there’s some magic trick for wiping out your negative credit accounts; truth be told, there isn’t.  Anything we do can be done by yourself, on your own time.  But with a veritable minefield of terms and conditions for working with creditors, debtors, and the credit bureaus, it can be more than a little overwhelming to attempt to tackle all on your own.

That’s why we offer credit coaches who are certified under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (meaning they likely know more about your credit than you do) to guide you through the credit repair process, as well as a comprehensive portal website where clients can go anytime to check the progress of their accounts.

Combined with our peerless debt settlement program – which can help you settle accurate collections for as little as 50 cents on the dollar – and our commitment to help you establish new lines of positive credit, there’s really no reason to look any further for the best in San Diego credit repair services.  You’ve already found it.

Credit Card Companies & Social Media: A Good Idea?

Posted by Gregory Young at Apr 04, 2012 | No Comments »

There has been a lot of criticism over the practice of credit card companies using social media as a resource for recruiting new business. Lenders have been found to roam around on Facebook and Twitter in an effort to find what the younger set is ‘liking’ so they can develop better strategies for gaining new customers.

Experts are concerned about this recent turn of events especially in light of the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act which was developed to protect consumers of all ages from aggressive lending tactics. When this law went into effect two years ago, it put a stop to the credit card kiosks in malls and on college campuses that were soliciting new business by giving away free swag.

To date, American Express has been found to be the most aggressive social media user for promoting their credit cards. The

Thoughts From the BiggerPockets Inaugural REI Summit 2012

Posted by Gregory Young at Mar 31, 2012 | No Comments »

Lord knows how many seminars, summits, so-called bar camps, and conferences Ive attended since the 1970s, when I attended my first. A couple hundred for sure. There are a couple ways to appraise the larger ones, summits and conferences. The #1 factor, of course, is the quality of speaker(s) and the subsequent information they convey. Second is everything else. What was the quality of the building in which it was held? Was it easy to navigate? Was obvious care taken to make the experience comfortable? The details are legion, big and small, most of which you might not notice unless they hadnt been taken care of.

This Summit went beyond anything Ive ever attended. At least for me, it raised the bar.

Clearly, the speaker lineup was awesome.

Garnishment Of Bank Accounts Opened Outside Of Florida

Posted by Gregory Young at Mar 26, 2012 | No Comments »

A person opens a bank account in a state other than Florida, and then he moves to Florida. The bank has Florida branches. If a creditor obtains a judgment against the same person the creditor would likely try to garnish the debtor’s bank account through a Florida writ of garnishment. Most people assume that a creditor can garnish a debtor’s account wherever the account was first opened so long as the bank has established Florida bank branches which fall under Florida court jurisdiction.

There are few cases on the jurisdictional limits of Florida garnishment writs, but the cases on point have held that a creditor many not garnish the bank account of a Florida debtor who opened a bank account in another state, or even in another country, even if the bank maintains Florida branches.

The courts reasoned that bank account is located at the branch were the account is opened and maintained. Accounts

Its too easy to suggest Apple should be a bank

Posted by Gregory Young at Mar 16, 2012 | No Comments »

This hyperbolic language that accompanies Apple reminds me of the dot com era. Back then if you had a brand it could accomplish anything.

We know more now. Great brand but stick to your knitting. You do not want to go in front of the “Barney Frank” type interrogation that banking entry will require you to endure. This is not a balance sheet issue. Its a much deeper regulatory, and oversight issue which cannot easily be consolidated with typical business processes.

Don’t even get me started. I love Apple. Stick to technology.

What is the next industry Apple can disrupt? Banking! | GigaOm

A new survey of 5,092 respondents in the U.K. and the U.S. from marketing and research consultancy KAE found that one in 10 people would consider banking with Apple, and 43 percent of existing Apple users would

Homeowners Struggling to Close Short Sales in Chicago May Want to Consider Bankruptcy

Posted by Gregory Young at Mar 15, 2012 | No Comments »

As the number of underwater mortgages continues to rise, short sales have become a popular way for Chicago homeowners to avoid foreclosure without filing for bankruptcy.

Unfortunately, homeowners are finding out that a short sale can quickly go from a saving grace to a nightmare. Quite often, a Chicago bankruptcy would have provided a more successful outcome.

As the Chicago Tribune recently illustrated, many lenders are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of calls and requests they’re getting from homeowners looking to refinance, get a loan modification, or complete a short sale.

As a result, banks are refusing to approve a large number of short sales – even if homeowners are qualified and buyers are already lined up.

How to Import: A Guide for eBay Sellers

Posted by Gregory Young at Mar 09, 2012 | 1 Comment »

[Last week I published a guest post about importing from China. That article seemed to have got some of the readers dabbling in eBay excited about a new option they have not explored before for cutting through the competition. I had several mails asking me about some of the basics of getting started. Since the guest author, Alice, is an expert on this topic, I asked her if she could help us with a more basic How-To guide. And she was kind enough to oblige. I hope this will come in handy for some of you.]

I recently wrote a post about The 6 Essential tips for importing from China. Not surprisingly, it sparked an interest among some of the enterprising readers about what is possible when you import items from China to sell on eBay and they want to learn more. So, I have put together this little guide to cover some of the finer points of importing goods from China to the US.
